Description

Cooperation Standardisation and EU FP R&D Project

The project WALTER (Wireless Alliances for Testing Experiment and Research) is a collaborative research project of FP7 (DG Infso). Started in 2008, for a period of 2 years, it includes 8 partners from Europe, Israel and China.
This project aims to develop the technology needed for measurement, calibration, and testing radio signals broadband (UltraWide Band - UWB). The purpose is to develop a pan-European broadband wireless testbed, covering the emerging needs of the research, the industry and the regulators.

After having worked on the project for more than one year, The WALTER Project has decided to run this workshop to present its activities and results, with the following main objectives:

  • To provide an overview on the current regulatory, standardisation and research status of Ultra-WideBand technology;
  • To present European research activities results on UWB, including the mitigation techniques of Detect And Avoid (DAA). To describe the WALTER solutions for Testing and Measuring DAA.
  • To identify the main challenges in the UWB testing and measurements.
  • To describe how the WALTER project research activity could support the resolution of these challenges.

WORKSHOP FOCUS

The workshop will focus on two major topics:

  1. Detect And Avoid (DAA) measuring issues and the solutions that WALTER offers
  2. Problem of measurement in noisy environment and the WALTER solution to this problem.
