The mission of the Joint Research Center (JRC) is to provide customer-driven scientific and technical support for the conception, development, implementation and monitoring of EU policies. As a service of the European Commission, the JRC functions as a reference centre of science and technology for the Union. The Institute for Protection and Security of the Citizen (IPSC) is one of the seven Institutes that constitute the JRC.
The mission of IPSC is to provide research-based, systems-oriented support to EU policies so as to protect the citizen against economic and technological risk. The IPSC also continues to maintain and develop its expertise in information, communication, space and engineering technologies in support of its mission. The IPSC Unit of SEnsors, RAdar technologies and Cybersecurity (SERAC) deals, among other, with advanced radar and telecommunications technologies for security applications.
This partner will bring his long term experience in performing reference radio-frequency measurements for research institutions and industries as well as more than 10 years of expertise in e.m. modelling and algorithm development. JRC has also a strong expertise in designing, prototyping and testing of ultra wide-band radar imaging systems. Its past studies in the performance of interference field with measurements for collision avoidance UWB radars and its reference measurements of screening attenuation for UWB automotive sensors fits well in the objectives of WALTER.
